Beautiful and durable flooring, sustainably harvested and
reclaimed
The visual
brilliance of flooring made from renewable resources is
breathtaking and stylish, adding warmth and character to your
project while greatly reducing ecological impacts.
We offer
flooring products made from palm woods and bamboo, reclaimed
woods, agricultural products, recycled glass aggregate and
cork-based compositions.
We work with
high quality craftsmen and flooring manufacturers who meet our
standard of excellence in providing spectacular, environmentally
friendly floors. Many of our products are user friendly and
cater to Do-It-Yourself enthusiasts.
Traditional
wood flooring isn't sustainable, taking 30-100 years to grow a
tree. Yet,
Forest Stewardship Council ("FSC") certified woods from well
managed forests are harvested at a rate that has minimal
environmental and social impacts. Another option is reclaimed
woods gathered from orchards, river and lake beds, back
yards, warehouses, bridges, railroad ties and telephone poles,
and reclaimed woods from Asia that were harvested generations
ago and then forgotten or cast aside. Reclaimed timber is some
of the densest and most durable wood on the planet. These high
quality hard woods are re-used and therefore their manufacture
does not contribute to deforestation.
BAMBOO is a
unique and beautiful alternative to other hardwoods, with
distinctive color, intriguing patterns and thicknesses that will
stand as an attractive feature in any room. Bamboo is actually
not a wood, but a grass. It becomes mature in 5-6 years and is
then available to harvest to craft a quality floor. Bamboo
flooring, much like wood flooring, has a hard finish and is
inflexible, strong, and durable. A stunning natural resource,
Bamboo can be harvested and replenished safely and quickly with
minimal impact on the environment. However, the recent rise in
demand for bamboo flooring has led to depreciated quality
amongst many bamboo flooring companies. Learn more about why our
bamboo floors are superior in strength and environmental
commitment:

Bamboo Mountain
CORK is admired
for its unusual patterns and is an excellent choice for flooring
in busy or noisy rooms due to its natural sound absorption and
acoustical insulation. It gives slightly under-foot and is
pliable, yet durable and resilient. Many public buildings in
the U.S. have cork floors that are over 100 years old! Cork
also contains natural insect repellent and antimicrobial agents.
Cork, the bark
from cork oaks, is harvested or peeled away when the tree
reaches maturity, which allows the cork oak to thrive and
regenerate while never being fully cut down. Additionally, some
manufacturers are now making cork flooring panels from waste
products collected from the bottle stopper industry. Cork is a
great renewable and sustainable resource that can radiate warmth
and elegance in any home or office.
NATURAL
LINOLEUM, one of the longest lasting and most durable natural
flooring products, is made from linseed oil, rosins, wood flour,
jute, and ecologically responsible pigments. Install it
yourself using Marmoleum’s patented and easy-to-use “Click”
system planks or tiles. Or, choose from a practically infinite
color palette of Marmoleum sheets or tiles (installed using
low-VOC glue). We can even recommend linoleum flooring artists
if you’d care to create a floor mural!
We are pleased
to offer all of these fine flooring options for your home or
work space: Natural Linoleum, Cork, Bamboo (engineered and
solid; finished and unfinished), Reclaimed woods, FSC-Certified
Domestic & Exotic woods, Forest-Salvaged woods, Palm Wood,
